Describe the similarities and differences in chemiosmosis between oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria and photophosphorylation in chloroplasts.
Photophosphorylation take place in chloroplast
oxidative phosphorylation takes place in mitochondria during respiration
Similarities
Both processes are using for ATP Production
In both the processes eletrones passes through Series of membrane proteins .
Proton gradient is produced in one side of the membrane
. Proton moves through ATP synthase
. Differences
Photophosphorylation produces reduced coenzymes
oxidativephosphorylation oxidises reduced co enzymes
Oxidative Phosphorylation take during Cellular respiration
photophosphorylation occurs during photosynthesis
Ocidatyphosphorylation ccurs inside mitochondria
photophosphorylation occurs inside thylakoids
The energy source for oxidstve phosphorylation is glucose
the energy source for photophosphorylation sunlight
Splitting of water occurs in photophosphorylation whereas synthesis of metabolic water occurs in this process
.Photo phosphorylation ATP is obtained by sun , whereas in oxidative phosphorylation , energy stored in ATP is obtained by oxidation of organic compounds .
