Solutions

Expert Solution

The child's neighbourhood friends are his immediate peers and have a direct influence on his psychosocial development. Therefore they woul be included in Option (D) microsystem.

Urie Bronfenbrenner developed a theory of ecological systems to determine the environmental factors that influence the development of a child.

According to the theory, achild's external environment can bee seen as 5 interdependent systems each wider than the first.

  • Microsystem: Individual's direct and immediate environment including parents, siblings and school.
  • Mesosystem: the connected relationships between different microsystems.
  • Exosystem: systems which the individual is not part of but still have an indirect influence on their development.A child's emotional needs may be influenced by the long working hours of parents.
  • Macrosystem: It is the arch which contains the micro, meso and exosystems. It consists of the social, political, religious economic , educational and legal systems and culture. The shared cultural becomes the individual' s identity which is common with others around them.
  • Chronosystem: The influene of passage of time is included in the chrochronosystem.Time brings with itself many changes which effect the environment around the indiindividual. For example divorce of parents or the change in dynamics with parents as one reaches adolescence.
