Geography of an area has always carved the culture of a
region.The examples that explains this relationship are:
- The occupation of people and geography: The people who live
along the coast lines in the world have fishing as their main
occupation and also a life style that and culture that resembles
the dominance of their occupation.The people living in plain
fertile valleys with favorable climate has taken agriculture as
their main occupation and also their life style and culture had
shaped accordingly. The festivals,food,beliefs etc all depicts the
prominence of agriculture. Pastoral occupation and lifestyle is
seen in grasslands of the world.
- Way of clothing and geography: Through out various cultures of
the world there is a vast difference in the way that people cloth
themselves,this is because of the climatic differences. The people
living in the warm and humid equatorial region have a dressing
style that has lesser and more looser clothes. The people of living
in the hotter regions of middle east hotter region of Asia has a
clothing style that intents to protect them from severe heat and
hence,they wear clothes that covers their full body , and are very
loose.The people living in colder regions wear thick woollen or of
animal hides inorder to protect themselves from the severity of the
cold.
- Architecture and geography: The housing or architecture of a
particular region depends upon the climate and availability of raw
materials for housing.For example ,the architecture of European
countries is influenced by the climate of the region,they are more
insulating in nature , Similarly the architecture of hotter is
suited to keep the buildings cool and preventing from dust
storms.
