1) Maintaining high standards hygiene when you're setting up for treatment is as important as carrying out treatment well. Ifections and diseases can be controlled through cleaning, disinfecting, or sterilizing. Hands are the body part which are mostly used while the treatment. As a beauty professional , the person deals with good number of clients every day , the most important aspect is to clean your hands before any task. Thus, when when a client comes for the treatment , he/ she will definietly observe your hands. Disinfecting hands kills most bacteria, fungi and viruses. You should change the disinfectant solution regularly in line with manufacturer's instructions. This can be done effectively by practicing. You must be aware of the health and hygiene not only in the salon but in the home also.
2) i) lighting: It is very important while giving nail service to the client because it requires a great focus. Each and every inch is carefully examined to provide a great service. The tools that are used during the nail service can hurt the client by cutting or rubbing the skin surface if there will be no proper lighting. Maintaing safety is very important to get positive remark after the treatment. Salon should have proper lightening , this helps in keeping the salon more clean and provides a better sanitary condition and during after nail service, client will become happy when the light will be reflected on her nails.
ii) Ventilation: It is important in each and every treatment because the salons are under roof and especially there are chambers for women for the treatments. The packed and conjusted room can make the client uncomfortable and lead to negative remarks. Ventilation can be genrated by opening the windows so that the air passes by or you can switch on the AC for convinience.
iii) General Comfort: This can be considered as the most important area. People seek for comfort everywhere and the client will give you money for your overall treatment towards him/her. So, it is important to make the client comfort in the salon. You can make them sit in a good fluffy couch because the nail service requires a lot of time and if you'll make the client sit on a hard or rough surface , he/she will start feeling uncomfortable soon which can lead to a negative feedback.
3) Cross- infection are likely to occur in salons. That's why it is important to maintain standards of hygiene and the principles. If you use the same equipment for every client without disinfecting it then it can lead to cross infection. This can happen to the person who is giving service because he/she is also using the tools for the treatment. But, the client is always in great danger as the beauty perofessional wears gloves but the client has bare skin. Thus, tools and equipments must be cleaned properly after each treatment so that infection doesn't pass from one person to another.
4) You need to set up the trolley with the necessary prouducts and equipments and organise the work area so that everything is hygienic and within reach. You can set the treatment room for nail service as:
i) The client record card with pen
ii) The gown the client will wear during the treatment and some hooks for the client's clothes.
iii) Clean towels laid out.
iv) The treatment couch should be clean.
v) The trolley and other work surfaces should be disinfected.
vi) The trolley should have products and tools which will be used during the treatment . For nail service they must be placed effectively and safely . The tools for nail service are:
a) Emery Board: Emery boards are difficult to clean, although some manufacturers have developed special cleansers for this purpose. If you cannot clean the file , it should be disposed of, or given to the client.
b) Orange Stick: The pointed side is used to apply cuticle or buffing cream. The other side, when tipped with cotton wool, can be used to clean under the free edge, remove excess enamel and ease back the cuticle. When tipped with cotton wool, this should be disposed of after each use.
c) Cuticle Knife: This is used to mould back the cuticle and remove any excess attached to the nail plate.
d) Cuticle nipper, nail scissors and toe nail clippers.
e) Nail buffer : Useful in pedicure , male manicure or when nail varnish is not going to be applied. To clean, wipe with a suitable cleansing solutions.
f) 3-way buffer, nail brush , hoof stick , hard skin rasp/grater, pumice stone
These are very important equipment for nail service . Hence, they must be placed safely and little away from the client.
