Question 46 options:
Antibodies carrying fluorescent dyes can be used to tag proteins in a process termed ( indirect or direct) immunofluorescence. Choose one in bold
Immunofluroscence is the process by which an protein or antigen is identified by a antibody which carries the fluroscent dyes.
There are two type of immunofluroscence viz direct and indirect.
DIRECT: In direct immunofluroscence a antibody is lebelled by a fluroscent dye. These antibody has a known antigen or protein binding capability. These antibody will bind with the antigen in the epitope. And the antigen will be identified. So here one antibody is used.
INDIRECT: In indirect immunofluroscence two type of antibody have used. One will bbe normal and other will be lebelled with fluroscent dye. The unlebelled antibody will bind with the unknown antigen and the lebelled antibody will identyfy the binding unlebelled antibody and then bind with it.
So according to question The right answer is DIRECT IMMUNOFLUROSCENCE because here one antibody is lebelled with fluroscenct dye.
In indirect immunofluroscence, the antibody which is not labeled with fluroscent dye binds with the target protein . And the antibody with fluroscent dye binds with the antibody which has previously bind with the protein. Hence it is incorrect.
