In addition to products such as Herceptin, commercially prepared antibodies can also be used for all of these EXCEPT:
a. |
For ELISA for diagnosis and testing. |
|
b. |
Visualization of molecules inside living cells |
|
c. |
As recombinant vaccines |
|
d. |
All of the above are uses for commercially prepared antibodies. |
|
e. |
In fluorescence activated cell sorting |
Commercially prepared antibodies can also be used for all Except:-
(c) As recombinant vaccines.
Vaccines are prepared from either modified organisms (Live attenuated) or inactivated/killed organism (Inactived vaccine). It can also be recombinant vaccine. In all types of vaccines Immunogen (which induces immune response to the host) is used not an antibody.
Recombinant vaccines are produced from recombinant DNA technology which involves insertion of the DNA encoding an antigen which stimulates immune response.
In recombinant vaccines such as DNA vaccine some pieces of DNA containing genes from the pathogenic organism is injected into which gets integrated and transcribe protein against which the host mounts an immune response.
The commercial prepared Antibodies are not required in preparation of recombinant vaccines.
In all the others commercially prepared Antibodies are used :-
?In ELISA techniques antibodies tagged against a specific antigen are used to determine antigen/antibody titers in body.
? Visualization of molecules can be done by immunocytochemistry in which Specific antibodies bind to specific protein/antigen in the cell which allows visualisation and examination under microscope.
?In fluorescent Activated cell sorting Antibodies directed against the surface molecules can be used to identify and analyse the cell phenotypes within the population.
So options (a), (b) , (e) are true for commercially prepared Antibodies.
Thus correct option is (c).
