The epidemiologist must hold a master's degree from an accredited college. To become an epidemiologist, you must possess a master's degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology or a similar field.
Most programs require a maximum of one year of internship. The best way to excel as an epidemiologist is to obtain a PhD, in some cases this is necessary. The doctorate takes up to three years of study and thesis. Epidemiologists with a PhD may conduct further research or pursue teaching opportunities
