What are some pyschological effects of high school graduation?
The first and for most problem for the high school students is their age. They are just in their adolescent age that brings chain of change in emotion and attitude. Physical appearance can make or mar one's high school life. Bullying will start with the physical appearance. It has caused more people from dropping or failing in their high schools. Besides, the inferiority complex that students build regarding their physical structures will definitely affect their entire personality and academics till they complete their studies.
Secondly, the high demanding curriculum and the time duration to complete assignments. Nearly 49% of students have reported stress on a daily basis while in the high school, according to a study that was published in Frontier Psychology. Half of them reported that they had to spend 3 to 4 hours daily to complete the assignments or home works.
Thirdly, the incompetency posed by different standardised tests that will determine whether a student will get admission in the college or not. These standardised tests test only the mathematical and linguistic skills and rejects all the other subjects. Not all the students will be interested in maths and language, so there should be a clear learning phase for these students because spending more time in a subject that they don't like brings more pressure on them.
The next issue is that students in the high schools undergo a tremendous amount of stress that cause more health problems. The stress comes as the pressure to perform well in the school by teachers and the parents. This only brings an aversion in studies and more people opt to drop out of studies or don't perform well.
Peer pressure will be one of the worst if the students give in to the opinions of non performing students but will be best if there is someone who positively pressurise the student to participate and perform. In general, it's negative.
High schoolers also undergo some relationship related emotional problems because it's during this period one gets physically stimulated more and fall in love which will be only infatuation. So love failures or rejection will land a major psychological impact. The thoughts about sex will keep haunting them and push them to commit errors.
