In: Biology
describe the variation that exists among protists with respect to their cell surface, motility, nutrition and cellular organization
The variation among protists with respect to their cell surface, motility, nutrition and cellular organization is as follow-
cell surface
the cell surface of protist is slimy , amorphous and cell vary in lengh from less then micrometer to around three meter. the cell surface also contain flagella and cilia. the cell may contain cell wall or cell membrane.
Motality
protist have three type of appendages for motality, they have flagellar movement, ciliar movement and pseudopodial movement, protist cell may contain flagella , cilia or pseudopodia,
Nutrition
the protist can take food via following ways
(A) they may ingest food, the protist may ingest bacteria and other small molecule , they extend the cell membrane or cell wall around food to form food vacule and after that the digestive enzyme digest the food.
(B) the protist absorb the food via cell membrane by diffusion method.
(C) photosynthetic protist synthesize food by the use of sunlight.
Cellular Organisation
the protist cell is eukaryotic cell and this may be unicellular, colonial or multicellular. they may contain cell wall or cell membrane.
