Ethical issue concern with this case is autonomy. Autonomy is a
medical ethival principle states that Autonomy is the idea that
every person is in control of their own thoughts and actions and
can be motivated by ‘internal’ forces like choice and
reflection.
Ethically, autonomy aims to protect individual choice, rights, and
freedoms against the control of organisations, the state or other
people. Basically, it lets us be our own rulers.
Patient may be knowledgeble and able to make decision of their treatment by own. So the healthcare providers should respect them and respect their concern about the disease. It is the responsibility of the healthcare provider to maintain or follow the ethical principle.
In this case the patient are of aware about the diet, and the sametime dietician ignoring their opinion and compelling them to take keto diet. It is the ethical issue which arising in this case. The right of patients to make decisions about their medical care without their health care provider trying to influence the decision. Patient autonomy does allow for health care providers to educate the patient but does not allow the health care provider to make the decision for the patient.here dietician independently taking decision without their concern.
