How are the ethical principles of nonmaleficence and beneficence violated by ransomware that could be in a healthcare organization's information system?
Nonmaleficience is based on a Latin maxim primum ' non nocere or first ,do not harm. Nonmaleficene is an ethical and legal duty which is based on avoiding harming others. In the health care system, the health care provider do more than mere avoiding harming others, they also create benefit and contribute to the healthy state of the patient, this obligation is termed beneficence. Randsomeware in health care means attack done against health care providers by those involved in cybercrimes. Randsomeware in health care system can result in lost of certain information critical to saving lives, potential harm to patients, cancellation of schedule surgeries etc. The principle of non-maleficene is been violated by those involved in randsomeware in health care sectors.because the principle of non-maleficence state "do no harm". But great harm is been done to patient. The ethics of beneficence is also been violated by those involved in randsomeware because patient do have trust in the health care provider that they will be beneficial to them ,but it's been violated by randsomeware.
