What are the five principles of ethical leadership? How do these principles mesh with Weinstein’s Five Principles of Ethical Intelligence?
Ethical leadership is based on the principle of ethics. These leaders do the right for the right reasons and at the right time. In this the person understands his/her on ethical values and deal with them. There five principles of ethical leadership are –
1. Respect – Respect other’s opinions, ideas; be empathetic; tolerant; empower others.
2. Honesty- Truthiness, avoid fake promises, don’t misinterpret.
3. Justice- Promote equality, avoid favoritism, fairness.
4. Service – Serve for the goodness, team building, empowering, and mentoring.
5. Community- Socialize, influence others.
Ethical intelligence is the intelligence based on the ethics. These people use their knowledge, intelligence and awareness ethically at the right place, at the right time. The five principles of ethical intelligence give by Weinstein are-
1. Do not harm
2. Respect others
3. Be fair
4. Be loving
5. Make things better
As it can be seen that the five principles of ethical leadership and ethical intelligence are saying the same things, in this we can say these both promote; justice, fair, respect, community and service.
