Ans1. Mother's breast milk should provide the majority of calories during an infant's first year of life. During 1st year of life, good nutrition is essential for healthy growth and development of infant. Human milk is the perfect food for baby. It contains more than 200 nutrients and special factors to built child's immunity.
Ans2. How to start solid food:-
Initially small amount should be given then increase gradually in course of a week.
When to start solid food:-
After 6months it should be started along with breast milk.
In what order solid food should be started:-
6-7months- stew, bread soaked in milk, rice, pulses can be started but not more than 3-4 spoon initially then increase gradually.
7-8months- egg yolk, curd
9months- bite of buiscuits
9-12months- more varieties of home-made food can be given. No need or smash the food but it should be soft. Avoid spices and condiments.
12-18months- all food cooked for family. Amount should be according to child's need.
Ans3. After 1 year cow milk can be introduced. It is rich in fat. Helps in brain development.
Ans4. Food like nuts, popcorns, grapes, candies, dried fruits, raisins and other hard eating items should not be given to prevent choking hazards.
