Cybercrime
A number of alleged cybercrimes have been in the media over the last several years. These include Wikileaks, the phone tapping scandal and the Edward Snowdon affair.
Choose one of these scenarios. Decide whether a cybercrime has been committed. Support your reasons with examples from the clauses of the appropriate code of ethics or professional conduct.
Edward snowden was alleged for leaking information about the
surveillance of internet and phone of Americans. The leaked
information was highly classified and it was from national security
agency. He also collected information about various global
surveillance program which were run by national security
agency.
United States department of justice had an seal charges against
Edward snowden violating and theft of government properties and
many other charges in 2013.
He has done a great dangers to us intelligence capability but many times he has been called a hero, patriotic, a whistleblower. The information which disclosed has fuel debates over the topic of the government secrecy and the mass surveillance done by the government. It also fuel debates over national security and information privacy.
In this scenario crime has been committed by Edward snowden because he leaked the information which was very confidential according to code of ethics but many considered him as a hero not a traitor as anything that he may have violated some rules which was not a loyality oath and it is not greater than the social contract which citizen has with its society.
