What does it mean when you have a medical test and your result is “within normal limits”? Should you be concerned if you take a medical test and your result is not “normal”?

Solutions

Expert Solution

In medical field all the tests result have its own normal ranges

These results are concluded as per the research done by great experts among the world wide population,

For eg: suppose fasting blood sugar normal range is calculated as 90-110mg/dl.if a patient sugar reading is 95mg/dl,this result is considered as normal that's within normal limits.

But still a normal result never promise good health, while all the test results within normal limits is surely a good sign, but still not a guarantee.

These reference ranges may also established by taking samples from whole population with or without disease conditions

If the test result is not normal definitely patient will be concerned about doing further related tests to rule out the problem.

Lab results may include terms like negative or normal- that's the disease which was tested not found

Sometimes positive or Abnormal means the disease is found.

Even though there is abnormal results,we should not jump to the conclusion that we have a disease, because there is possibilities of false results due to chemical used for test, testing maschine problem etc.

So in the case of abnormal results we should be concerned about possibilities of false interpretation also
