As a youth of today, give five ways and means in creating a safe world.
Right now, 1.8 billion young people between the ages 10 and 24 are studying, working and finding their purpose. They are the largest youth population the world has ever seen and they are rrowing up at a time when the world is at a critical cross road.
Here are some ways that young people worldwide are working to change the world
1. ZERO HUNGER
The road to zero hunger rests on the shoulders of a new generation of young people. Like the sibling farmers mercy and shetuuka, we will work to reduce hunger of our siblings of the society. They worked to reduce hunger and create jobs in namibia through environmentally friendly farming. Using drip irrigation, their efforts yield 100,000 namibian dollars each month in sweet potatoes, onions, butternuts, cabbages, watermelons, tomatoes and green peppers.
2. GENDER WQUALITY
Worldwide, women are still under represented in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In india, with the world's largest youth population, things are beginning to change
More than 40 percent of indians are under the age of 20 and young woman are breaking thw glass ceiling by persuing more technical areas of work like engineering. Woman now make up 30 percent of computer programmers in India and they are gaining ground in other STEM professions
3.CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
About 783 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly 11 percent of the world's population. Getting clean water for survival and for sanitation is even more challenging in the midst of war.
SPEAK OUT
Speaking your mind online or offline helps you assert yourself and your interests. Also, you never know who might be listening. Think before posting. Social media has a long memory and things can never truly be deleted.
Speak against injustice, as we all are the citizens with equal rights
GIVING OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE A ROLE
One of the best ways you can make a difference is to inspire others to join you. Not only are you teaching other young people about important issues, but you are encouraging them to teach others too. That's one reason why many charities and organisations have resources for yooung people who want to get involved as an ambassador for their cause
