What does it mean when a spectrophotometer has a low observed absorbance level?

What does it mean when a spectrophotometer has a low observed absorbance level?

Solutions

Expert Solution

in a spectrometer source is used for the electromagnetic radiation which fall on the sample. Some part of the radiation is absorbed and some part is emmited , on the basis of the emmited radiation the spectrometer detect the absorbence and we get absorbence value. if it is low then either the solution absorb very low amount of radiation or detector can not read it properly

A spectrophotometer measures changes in absorbance of light over time. Species X has a molar absorptivity constant of 5.00x10^3cmM and the path of the cuvet that holds the mixture is 1.00 cm. Species X, a colored reactant, undergoes a first order decomposition reaction to form a colorless product. See data below.
