what does it mean when something has a limiting ideal behavior? like when used in this sentence: "An important case of limiting ideal behavior1 is that of the reversible expansion"
Limiting ideal behaviour means close to ideal behaviour.
For example in reversible process , the process is so
close to ideal that it can be reversed at any moment but cannot be
reversed all the way to the starting.
But reversible process are very very slow , in fact they
are that slow that we can consider that it may be reversible at any
moment to few degrees.
so here the revesible expansion is not ideal but it is very close to ideal and can be called as limiting ideal.
