Given: AaBb

Question: Make AaBb go through mitosis and meiosis. Draw them stating AaBb Mitosis, and AaBb Meiosis.

Will give a thumbs up if given the correct information. Thank you for your help.

Expert Solution

The given cell is in Heterozygous condition for two pairs of alleles which governing same character or different character.

Mitosis: Is equational division. Which means cell undergoes the cell division and gives two daughter cells. If parent cell is 2n in nature, the obtained daughter cells also 2n in nature. There is no change in their amount of chromosome. It is in the diploid state only. Before undergoing cell division, the cell undergoes replication in S-phase make 2n into 4n. This occurred in vegetative cells.

eg: AaBb becomes 2AaBb, after mitosis 2AaBb? AaBb

?

  AaBb

Meiosis: Is Reductional division. 2n becomes n. Before undergoing cell division, the cell undergoes replication in S-phase make 2n into 4n. then undergo meiosis I, here homologous pairing and crossing over (Recombination) occurred. and give two daughter cells with diploid content (2n). These cells further undergoes Meiosis II, and give four haploid cells called as gametes. Each gamete with n content. This occurred in germinal cells.

Eg: 2AaBb? AaBb  ? AB, aB, Ab,ab are gametes.
