Solutions

Expert Solution

These are the ways :

1.Let Ms Clapton choose dressing by her own: every people have their own style of wearing clothes, so denying them ability to choose dress is harmful to their dignity. So Sarah could ask her to select her dress and helped her in wearing those clothes. Give her enough time to select her dress from the wardrobe.

2. Involve Ms Clapton in decisions related to her healthcare:

She should be involved in all the decisions taken a related to the care, as it will give her a sense that their opinion and decisions are respected. If not they will feel undervalued and disconnected. Decisions about her medication at what time to eat, when to eat ,what type of medicine should be discussed with her.

3. Address her properly-always ask her about how she like Also address her with polite and amiable voice. Never adopt a patronising tone.

4. Make the food look and taste nice-most of the people in care, food is the highlight of the day. Therefore include her in meal planning so she can offer suggestions including favourite dishes. Also make sure the food is cooked neat and well presented.

5. Respect personal space and possessions: never enter into her personal space without permission. Respecting resident's privacy is the most important thing. Unless in emergency or incapable of giving permission, knock the door before entering into the room and ask for the permission. The simple act of asking them permission makes them feel respected.

6. Handle hygiene activities sensitively:ask for her concern in any activities engaging with body.Explain the purpose of doing and always engage in a conversation to make her feel less uncomfortable.

7. Promote social activities-having a social life will give them a feel of satisfaction thus improving quality of life. Eating food with the family ,having social gathering are helpful.

8. Friendly chat-5 to 10 minutes of chat will make her feel good and lift her spirit. Be ready to interact with her and listen to what she is speaking.
