Nursing assessment for Oral Lithium
Lithium is a type of medicine that is used to stabilise the mood and to treat mood disorders like mania and hypomania. People suffering from mania disease will experience mood swing. Lithium is used to control that mood swings by acting on the nervous system.
It took almost one to three weeks to weeks to control the mania. According to some studies, It can reduce suicidal risk. but there are also several disadvantages of using lithium like-
1- It can diarrhoea and nausea.
2- It changes the rhythm of the heart.
3- It makes muscles weak.
4- Problem of frequent urination.
5- feeling thirsty very frequently.
But all these problems can be reduced with continues use of Lithium.
