Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution: Microbiology is the study of organisms that cannot be seen through naked eyes. The filed includes the study of bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and protozoans. We can classify these microorganisms differently. Primary classification is into eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Eukaryotic microorganisms like fungi, algae and protozoan have membrane bound organelles whereas prokaryotic microbes lack membrane bound organells. The bacteria and Archae are classified under prokaryotes. The viruses have been treated differently because theri real entity whether they are truly living or non-living is yet a debate topic. Anyways they also tend to exhibit the properties of living organisms like replication of their genome, transcription of genome into mRNAs and translation of mRNAs into proteins.

The existence of microbes was predicted many centuries before their discovery. Even after the discovery many belived that they have abiogenitic origin rather than biogenetic origin. Many theories got dissaproved many other theories get stabilized and the scientific community have been validating them with new tools and technique.

I know I could do 1 microL of solution + 99 microL of buffer to make 1:100 but I would rather do a dilution series. each tube must end with at least 800mircoL. Please explain how I could achieve this, thanks!

I have an unknown mixture of Benzoic acid, Dimethyl Terephthalate, and Naphthalene dissolved in Dichloromethane. I need to separate the mixture to find the composition using some sort of acid base reation and a distillation. How would I do that? I think that I could use steam distillation to remove the naphthalne but im not really sure on that. Any help would be apprectiated. I start with 25mL of the unknown mixture.
