COVID 19 is a pandemic disease spread to many countries from China. It is an airborne disease and spreads through human to human contact. It infected many middle east countries and UAE stands ahead of all those countries in fighting the disease by implementing aggressive measures to combat the disease.

UAE strictly followed the technical guidance measures given by WHO (World health organization) in preventing the spread of this viral disease, as there is no medicine for curing this disease and it can be stopped only through prevention. The technical guidance provided by WHO is to maintain social distance, avoid droplet spread of disease by using masks and wash hands using sanitizers for self protection. The measures taken by UAE to adhere to these guidlines are:

  • It has installed new thermal screeners at airports and have screened each and every passenger arriving at the airport. It cancelled all the existing VISAS also and stopped issuing new visas to prevent virus import cases.
  • It cancelled many sports and cultural events
  • People are instructed to maintain safer distances (atleast 3meters) from each other at all public places, shopping malls, and grocery stores.
  • Schools, colleges and universities are closed entirely for 4 weeks since March 8th 2020, and ordered to stay at home
  • If people have to go out on emergency basis, they have to wear protective masks to prevent contamination through droplets
  • UAE's Civil aviation authority has suspended all the international and domestic flights for two weeks
  • Chairs are placed at safer distances in the hospital waiting areas. It promised all COVID 19 infected patients to treat under national plan
  • Staff and customers are screened at the entrance of the hypermarkets to ensure that they don't have COVID 19 positive
  • People are suggested to wash hands for every 20mins atleast for 10-20 times in a day using alcohol based sanitizers.
  • Sanitizers are kept in hotels and public places all the time.
  • It discouraged the mass gatherings like religious meetings.
  • It has started its 24 hours locksown period for 2 weeks from April 5th
