Cross AABBCCDDee x aabbccddEE strains. What are the resulting genotypes and phenotypes in the first and second generations?

show the F1 genotype, then calculate the number of possible F2 genotypes so that the problem is condensed. Please and thank you!

Solutions

Expert Solution

Parental cross AABBCCDDee x aabbccddEE

Parental gametes ABCDe (From AABBCCDDee) & abcdE (From aabbccddEE)

F1 AaBbCcDdEe

So, in F1 we will get only one phenotype.

Now, two individuals of F1 will be crossed to produce F2.

F1 cross AaBbCcDdEe x AaBbCcDdEe

Now, number of heterozygous gene pairs is 5 (As A, B, C, D & E all are heterozygous at their locus).

We know that, if number of heterozygous gene pairs is n, then different types of gametes formed will be 2n & different types of genotypes produced will be 3n. Also, different types of phenotypes formed will be 2n (Assuming simple dominant-recessive relationship in each gene pair).

So, number of possible gametes formed by each F1 parent will be 25 or 32. So, number of different types of genotypes produced in F2 will be 35 or 243. Also, number of different types of phenotypes produced in F2 will be 25 or 32 (Assuming simple dominant-recessive relationship in each gene pair).

. Give the predicted phenotypes for the F1-generation resulting from a dihybrid cross of the haploid gametes originating from the diploid parents, RRtt x rrTT, in the Punnett Square below. In each square, choose colony colour (red or white) and growth / no growth on MIN (+ or -) from the drop-down menus. Also choose the correct the genotypes of the haploid gametes. The RRtt parent gives rise to the mating type “alpha” gametes and the rrTT parent forms “a”...

Hybrid usually refers to animals or plants resulting from a cross between two races, breeds, strains, or varieties of the same species. Using ONE (1) specific hybrid animal that are actually exist in the world, explain in details how this hybrid animal is formed. Your explanation should include the parents involved, compare their characteristics to their parents, their respective genetic components, barriers involved to get the hybrid animal and ways to get the hybrid animal. The details of the summary...
