How does the concept of model builing relate to the use of regression analysis ?
Regression analysis is used to find relationship between dependent and independent variables. Regression analysis is used to build models for inference or prediction of variable.
In regression model building is process of developing a probabilistic model that describes the relationship between dependent and independent variables.
In Another words we can say that with the help of regression analysis we build a model that describes the relationship between predictor variables and outcomes or dependent variables.
In regression analysis we use scatter plot for model building. If data in scatter plot is randomly distributed then model will be approximately linear. Otherwise according to two data points in scatter plot we can determine model equation.
Above Scatter plot shows a good fit model in regression analysis.
Above Scatter plot shows curvilinear relationship between predictor and outcomes.
In this manner we can relate regression analysis and model building.
