Biggest health issue of the nation:
America's Biggest health issue is the, ever increasing rate of Heart diseases among the population . It is considered to be one of the main reason for mortality and morbidity among Americans. Reports show that every 43 seconds one of the American might experience an incident of heart attack .
According to CDC ( Center for Disease Control and Prevention) each year 647, 000 people are dying due to hear diseases in America. Every 37 seconds one person dies in United States due to Cardiovascular diseases. Each year the country spends approximately $ 219 billion for the healthcare cost , happens due to heart diseases.
Most common type of Heart diseases, seen in America is Coronary artery disease ( CAD).
CAD : Any disease caused by the accumulation of fatty deposits in the Coronary arteries that supply blood to the Myocardium .
18.2 million adults in US are suffering with Coronary artery disease. The major three risk factors of Heart diseases are Hypertension , Smoking and Hypercholostrolemia. Half of the Americans are having / suffering with any obe risk factors of Heart disease. Life style factors are another major determinant of Heart diseases such as physical inactivity, Alcoholism, and Unhealthy diet. Two other important risk factors are the condition of Obesity and Diabetes Mellitus. Among the total population of America 66 % are suffering with either Obesity or overweight and around 30 million are suffering with Diabetes Mellitus.
Overall the burden of Heart diseases are increasing day day. Government has initiated a number of health programmes to stop the disease rate from increasing , but the people also should adapt the positive life style changes such as heart healthy diet, regular physical exercise and stress management techniques seriously.
