EXAMPLES OF HOW THE BODY ADAPTS TO STRESS

  • A dog is chasing a teenage boy(alarm in the body),the body reacts by increasing blood flow to legs and arms,causing palpitations and sweating,the boy starts to run fast,after few minutes the heart rate,blood pressure,and muscle power got maintained(resisting stress),eventually the boy is unable to handle the situation,end up with dog bite(exhaustion stage).
  • A 40 years old man who is working in a bank is unable to complete his task as expected which is neccessary for his promotion(alarm stage), so he works day and night ,start smoking and uses alcohol(resistance stage),end up with diabetes and hypertension and frequent fights with family members(exhaustion stage)
  • A student who is preparing  for a competitive exam(stress) which is scheduled next year, plans to read books,watches related videos (alarm stage), he studies 5 to 10 hours a day for 4 to 5 months(resistance stage),eventually burned out(exhaustion stage).
