1.ultra violet rays in large quantities has harmful effects on human beings especially on their skin. it causes tanning nd even may lead to skin cancer.

2. starting from the wave with lowest frequency:

  • radio waves are in radio communicatons
  • microwaves in radar communication, heating in kitchen
  • infrared are used in the study of molecular structure (infrared red spectroscopy generally used to study the vibrations modes of different molecules)
  • visible light in human vision.
  • UV rays used to study molecular structures ( UV-Visible spectroscopy is used to study the electronic levels in molecules)
  • X rays are used in medical practices to study fractues etc
  • Gamma rays in cancer/ tumor radiation therapy.

UV and other higher frequency waves are generally ionising and are resonsible for radiation poisoning that can cause damage to human and animal DNA, high power visible or infrared light sources may effect eye vision, radio waves and microwaves have been seen to effect the life cycles of migrating birds adversly.
