Advantage of using rDNA as a rapid method of identifying organisms are:

1. rDNA is purly based on molecular method (PCR)

of microorganisms.

The culture media not required always to do this molecular test. The PCR can be perform from direct sample. There are several other methods such as study and observation by historical evolution, Identification Methods Using Chromogenic Media, Microscopy techniques, Spectroscopy, Chromatographical methods etc. However, I prefer to use biochemical analysis such as PCR methods to identify microrganisms. By comparing all those above methods the biochemical methods are always provide accuracy in data. The biochemical methods are usually expensive and required large laboratory spaces and needed seperate care to prevent contamination and all. However the ultimate result would be accurate and easy to analysis.
