Which of the 8 dimensions of wellness do you think is undervalued the most? Why do you think it is not focused on as much as other dimensions? What problems for individuals and our society do you see due to this dimension of wellness not being addressed?
The 8 dimensions of wellness are physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, financial, environmental, intellectual and social.
According to me the emotional dimension of wellness is still undervalued. Emotional dimension of wellness describes a person's ability to cope up with day to day activities and stress and be emotionally satisfied. The people still do not understand the importance of how emotional and mental health can affect one's wellness and health. With growing stress people face many emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, agitation, frustration, fear. These emotions generally arises due to problems in personal or professional life. But people still feel shy to talk about the emotional issues they face. This greatly affects the individual as well as the society. People with emotional issues loses interest in daily activities and become less productive. It also results in increased incidences of neurological disorders caused due to emotional instability.
