What environmental and/or cognitive skills do you think separated early Homo species from the earlier hominids from whom they were descended?

Solutions

Expert Solution

A member of the human family was based primarily on its teeth in particular, the absence of large, dagger-like canines sharpened by the lower teeth. Living and extinct apes have such teeth, while hominids don't. But the gold standard for being a hominid was upright walking. Afarensis and Australopithecus africanus fossils also show clear signs of bipedalism, including a bicondylar angle, an anteriorly placed foramen magnum, laterally flaring iliac blades, longer femoral necks and heads, and the presence of a lumbar curve.

Homo erectus - A Bigger, Smarter, Faster Hominin Lineage. Homo erectus, they show evidence of increases in both body size and brain size.

The Hominid Skulls have underwent many changes overtime. For example, the jaws and teeth have become smaller, and the brain cavity has become larger. Evolution has affected the changes of the skulls. And our brain cavities have become smaller over time because there is no need for a large one.
