I strongly believe that the ACA Reform is a move bringing our society one step closer to justice or fairness. I am saying this because there are are several evidence to support my opinion. First, the individual mandate requires most of the individual in the United States to have some form of health insurance which is sweeping change in a country with around 30 million uninsured people back in 2010 when it was introduced. It was ensured by making it mandatory for everyone to pay a small fee about 1% of their annual income. For 2014 when the policy was enforced, the fee was $95 for adult and $ 47.5 for childrens for the whole year and not month by month. Health insurance market places were also created to ensure that people find affordable insurance. These were virtual places run by government where people can see different plans and prices offered by the insurance provided. Ultimately, it allowed people to qualify for lower premium depending on the income and family size. Regardless of any insurance that one have, the insurers will no longer be able to deny or revoke coverage for pre-existing conditions. It also ensured that women do not have to pay more than men for the insurance either which bring social justice and equality to the society. Insurance will also provide preventative care like mamogram, screening and check ups from now. In addition to this the 80/20 rule of ACA required the insurer to provide at least 80% of the money they get from premium on actual health care. Finally, the laws also require companies to publicly justify rate increase of over 10% and they are banned from imposing lifetime dollar limits on benefits.
