RESTING METABOLIC RATE

Our body burns energy when it is at complete rest ,this is known as resting metabolic rate .The average RMR for wommen is around 1400 calories per day and men is around 1600 calories per day .So many factors are influencing our resting metabolic rate .now we can discuss ONE FACTOR that influencing RMR in human.

AGE

Age is the one of the main important factor influencing resting metabolic rate .It turns out that for most people ,age related weght gain is due in large part to a dramatic decrease in calories burned .while lower level of physical activitry play a large role in the decreased energy expenditure ,an age related declain in metabolic rate is also to blame.

The volume of skeletal musculature decreases and the percentage of fat tissue increase with age ,it cause decrease in muscle mass relative to total body and it leads to decrease in resting metabolic rate .

REASONS -age decreasing the resting metabolic rate

a) People tend to be less active with age .

-unfourtunately ,older adults are typically less active and burn fewer calories through activity .staying active can help to prevent this drop in RMR .

b) People tend to lose muscle with age .

-The average adults loses 3-8% of muscle during each decade after 30.this lose of muscle with age is called sarcopenia, and can lead to fracture ,weakness and early death .

THE AMOUNT - HOW DOES THE METABOLISAM SLOW DOWN WITH AGE .

The people aged 60-70 burned only 24 fewer calories ,while those over 90 burned 53 fewer calories on average daily .the RMR of three group of people ;those aged 20-30,60-74,and over 90 .compared to the youngest group ,people aged 60-74 burned roughly 122 calories ,while people over 90 burned around 422 fewer calories .

PREVENTION THAT METABOLISAM SLOWING DOWN WITH AGE

a) Try resistance training .

-Resistance training ,or weight lifting ,is great for preventing a slowing RMR .

B) Try high intensity interval training .

-It is a training technique that alternate between intense anaerobic excercise with short period of rest .

c) Get plenty of sleep.

-It also seems that poor sleep may increase the muscle loss.Since muscle influences your RMR ,losing muscle can slow down your metabolisam .

d) Eat more protein rich food .

e) Make sure you eat enough food .

f) Drink green tea.

CONCLUSION

Our resting metabolisam slows down with age ,there are many ways to combat this .our metabolisam is all of the chemical reactions that help keep our body alive .
