MAIN FACTORS OF EFFECTIVE MANAGER CONSISTS OF GOAL SETTING & ACHIEVING
A MANAGER IS A PERSON WHO MANAGES OR IS IN CHARGE OF SOMETHING. MANAGERS CAN CONTROL DEPARTMENTS IN COMPANIES, OR GUIDE THE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THEM. MANAGERS MUST OFTEN MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT THINGS.
ACCORDING TO HENRI FAYOL, MANAGERS MUST BE ABLE TO DO:
1. PLANNING
2. ORGANIZING
3. LEADING
4. CO-ORDINATING
5. CONTROLLING
THE MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING AND LEADING THE WORK OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE IN MANY INSTANCES. THE MANAGER IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING AND MAINTAINING WORK SYSTEMS, PROCEDURES, AND POLICIES THAT ENABLE AND ENCOURAGE THE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OF ITS PEOPLE AND OTHER RESOURCES WITHIN A BUSINESS UNIT.
AN MANAGER HAS A SET OF BASIC GOALS WHICH ARE THE BASIC REASON FOR
ITS EXISTENCE. MANAGER UNITES THE EFFORTS OF DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS
IN THE ORGANISATION TOWARDS ACHIEVING THESE GOALS.
MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SETTING AND ACHIEVING OBJECTIVES FOR THE ORGANISATION. IT HAS TO ACHIEVE A VARIETY OF OBJECTIVES IN ALL AREAS CONSIDERING THE INTEREST OF ALL STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDING, SHAREHOLDERS, EMPLOYEES, CUSTOMERS AND THE GOVERNMENT.
SURVIVAL: THE BASIC OBJECTIVES OF ANY BUSINESS IS SURVIVAL IN ORDER TO SURVIVE, AN ORGANISATION MUST EARN ENOUGH REVENUES TO COVER COSTS.
PROFIT: MERE SURVIVAL IS NOT ENOUGH FOR BUSINESS. MANAGEMENT HAS TO ENSURE THAT THE ORGANISATION MAKES A PROFIT. PROFIT IS ESSENTIAL FOR COVERING COSTS AND RISKS OF THE BUSINESS.
GROWTH: A BUSINESS NEEDS TO ADD TO ITS PROSPECTS IN THE LONG RUN, FOR THIS IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE BUSINESS TO GROW. GROWTH OF A BUSINESS CAN BE MEASURED IN TERMS OF SALES VOLUME INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES, THE NUMBER OF PRODUCTS OR THE INCREASE IN CAPITAL INVESTMENT,ETC. THERE CAN BE OTHER INDICATORS OF GROWTH.
