How does the bonding network covalent compounds explain their physical properties?
The network covalent bonding is highly important for determining the physical properties of the concerned compounds. More the network covalent bonding, more are the melting and boiling point of such compound since more energies are required to break such bonds and melt or evaporate the compound.Such compounds are also hard enough owing to their extended lattice formation. This type of compounds are generally insoluble in any solvent because of their giant molecular network covalent bonded structure. Examples include Quartz (SiO2), Diamond (C) etc.
