Advantages vs. disadvantages of SAP
According to users, SAP has a lower implementation risk than
Oracle. SAP has a special feature known as the All-in-One product
feature that helps minimize implementation risk through
reconfigurations for various verticals. This feature also helps to
speed up the implementation process.
Another area where SAP is considered better over Oracle is ability
of customization. Users look to customize ERP software solution so
that it fits in well with their various processes (ex-marketing,
managing customer relations etc), and carrying out other business
processes by customizing SAP ERP software as per their need.
The two main disadvantages of using SAP ERP are cost and slow in adapting the technological changes with respect to cloud. SAP is typically more expensive for customers to purchase. It has also been slower to adapt the revolutionary technological changes than Oracle has been. Although SAP does offer cloud capabilities with its SAP Business One software, Oracle has been rewarded as being more successful in maximizing cloud advantages for clients.
Advantages vs. disadvantages of Oracle
Biggest advantage of with Oracle according to statistics is its cost. Statistics say that companies pay only 1.7 % of their annual revenues for implementing SAP. Another way Oracle is more affordable than SAP is through the use of cloud technology as mentioned in the above section. Oracle is eager to help customers cross over the cloud format, which many business owners consider to be the way of the future. Cloud technology allows software to be accessed with lower costs and low maintenance cost as well.
Two main disadvantages of Oracle as per users is: difficulty in
learning and in-memory space requirement. Oracle SQL is also more
difficult to learn and operate than its competitors. Another
disadvantage is would be relative to the kind of project or
organization that is planning to use it. For example, for a device
that needs an embedded database to store sensor data, the main
disadvantage would be that Oracle requires a certain amount of
resources that is usually not available in small devices.
Conclusion
SAP is preferred by industry for the following reason:
