Before taking any new kind of treatment for a chronic condition, it is very important for a patient to discuss all the concerns that they have in their mind with the healthcare provider. It provides them with a sense of relief to their curiosity and also help them in making the important decision of whether to go on with the new treatment or not.

In Ms. Williams's case, she is not at all ready to go on for a knee replacement surgery becuause of her job as a full time art teacher in a school. At the same time she also want to do something for her arthritis as the pain is constantly increase and that is why Dr Jackson asked her to receive this experimental gel which can cushion her knee and provide pain relief for as long as 12 months. She might ask the following question regarding the experimental gel prior to make the decision -

1. Is the injection 100% safe? Are there any evidence of people who have successfully taken this treatment prior to me? What was the outcome? What will the result look like and how long will it last?

2. Is this experimental gel the best choice of treatment for my condition? What will the procedure look like? Are there any special preparation that I have to do prior taking the injection? Are there any side effects?

3. Will my insurance provider cover the cost of this experimental gel injection? If not, whatis the price of one injection and how many injection I would require? Can I carry on with my daily activities or is there any limitations? Are there certain activities or situations that I should avoid?
