1. Humans have been fighting against several viral diseases for decades. The large amount of research funds are used to develop various drugs and vaccines to prevent the spread of viral diseases. Also, large amount of funds are used for the treatment of sick people. Among the viruses, the Ebola virus is the deadliest (Hardig). The current Ebola strain kills more than 90 percent of the patients in West Africa. WHO has donated large amount of money for Ebola related activities in West Africa. As per the study, United states of America, Japan, The African development bank, World bank and Ebola multi partner trust fund are the Top donors for Ebola related activities (who.int).

2. Funding in medical research should be made wisely, as the breakthroughs in treatments are considered as long term saving in the field of medicine. World Health Organization (WHO) has been aiming for system wide policies for several years. A large section of the money has been spend for technology advancements. The contributions made in the medical research are life long investments for the humans, thus research funding agencies and their respective governments should wisely distribute the money.
