electric field and electric potential. To understand the formative properties of charges on the electric fields that were formed and the relationship between electric fields and electric potential.
Here are two question from anaysis part, can you answer them in general.
3.) Discuss the results of each of the three conductive sheets in terms of (1) the propertiesof electric field lines, (2) the properties of equipotentials, and (3) properties ofconductors listed in the Background Information section. How do the shapes of thevarious electrodes affect the shape of the electric fields? Be brief but complete withyour descriptions.
1)
1. The electric lines of force are imaginary lines.
2. A unit positive charge placed in the electric field tends to follow a path along the field line
3. The electric lines of force from a positive charge and terminate on a negative charge.
4. The tangent to an electric field line at any point gives the direction of the electric field at that point.
5. Two electric lines of force can never cross each other. If they do, then at the point of intersection, there will be two tangents. It means there are two values of the electric field at that point, which is not possible. represented by one tangent at the given point for the given line of force.
6. Electric lines of force are closer where the electric field is stronger and the lines spread
out where the electric field is weaker.
7. Electric lines of force are perpendicular to the surface of a positively or negatively charged body
8. Electric lines of force contract lengthwise to represent attraction between two unlike charges.
2)
1.work done is moving a charge over an equipotential surface is zero.
2.the electric field is always perpendicular to an equipotential surfaces.
3.the spacing between equipotential surfaces enables us to identify regions of strong and weak fields.
4.Two equipotential surfaces can never intersect. If two equipotential surfaces could intersect, then at the point of intersection there would be two values of electric potential which is not possible.
3)
1.There is no electric field inside a conductor.
2.charges exist only of a surface of a conductor.
3.All points of a conductor are at the same potential.
