What is the couse, clincal manifes of Ankylosing Spondylitis, how connect wiith the lung
Ankylosing spondylitis is a autoimmune type of arthritis resulting to inflammation of spine and leads to decrease flexibility of spine and if the ribs are affected it can leads to breathing difficulty. Mostly the young patients are affected.
CAUSES-- the exact cause is idiopathic ( means unknown). But it has been seen that those individuals who have a association with HLA-B27 gene are mostly affected. The younger age patient and males are more chance of causing ankylosing spondylitis. Other than HLA-B27 gene IL23R, IL1A are also associated .
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS--
1) lower back, (pelvic bone)hip,spine pain.
2) neck stiffness when to do activities.
3) back pain worse during night time and at a results it disturb the sleep.
4) ribs are also affected at that time breathing difficulties may arises.
5) acute iritis, eye pain, photophobia,blurred vision.
6) fatigue, loss of appetite , digestive problems can also associated.
7) bowel problems may arises.
CONNECTION WITH THE LUNG--
It has a connection of causing lung disease. It can affected the chest joints or if there is systemic inflammation by scar formation.
The ribs and chest joints are inflammated and leads to fusing of joints . Ultimately syndesmophytes is occured means bone and ligaments become calcified. As a result it makes a difficulty of chest expansion and chest pain. Also the inflammatory response results to scarring of tissue of lungs.Ankylosing spondylitis forms the lung diseases like- lung fibrosis( scarring of air sac connective tissue, chest wall expansion Restriction die to fused ribcage joints,pneumothorax.
