Class, what is job shadowing and how might it be used to better understand a potential employer?
Job Shadowing - It is the name given to the opportunity which is given to us to observe someone doing their job. It means to shadow someone at work. It can be an hour long visit with a person to week long with numerous staff and with observing numerous activities. It is a useful way to learn about a particular job of interest. A person by observing can learns what the job is really like.
It can be used to better unserstand a potential employer: By job shadowing, the individual sees the actual performnace of the job in action. He experiences the employee's approach, the interprsonal interaction required, the steps and action necessary, and the components needed to effectively perform the job. Job shadowing allows the observer to see ad understand the nuances of a particular job It helps to observe howthe employees does the job, the key deliverbles expected from the job and the employees with whom the job interacts.
