How is cross-cultural research used to better understand psychological knowledge?

The meaning of using cross cultural research for psychological knowledge means that in order to study the thought processes and the behaviour of a person, the cultural conditions in which they are brought up would be considered. This could be understood when a person learns about different cultures, lives in a society where there is predominance of one particular culture and the people behaving or reacting in accordance to different conditions. For example, let us consider how people react to death and their psyche at the time when a person dies. In some cultures people might get disturbed and depressed with the fact that parents or someone in the family has been lost, but certain cultures allow better coping mechanisms, for example the Islamic and the Hindu culture, where when a family member dies, it is thought that they have attained salvation and they are in a place where they have reached after completion of their purpose on earth. Death affects the family, but on realisation of the fact that their family member has completed and served his purpose of life, they are not driven towards the hands of depression. This is because, coping abilities, and realisation of reality is better. Also, in christianity people believe that when. Person attains death, they may go closer to god. Hence, looking at the various aspects of culture, across the world, we get an idea how people behave in different ,echansism and how their coping mechanisms are built or reactions are shaped.
