Research question:
What are the specific problems and charateristics of different types of plants on Verdugo Mountain ( i.e Black Sage, California Bush, Chamise)?
Answer the following for research question above
1.Identify the appropriate level of complexity (from population to landscape ecology).
2.Identify the main ecological concept that your research question seeks to help answer.
3.Identify two other ecological concepts that will also affect your research question.
4. find a peer-reviewed, research journal article whose topic addresses the same question. You will then need to provide the following information:
Name the concept
Researcher, year, organism
Question they researched
Conclusion they found
Ans 1) There is a high level of complexity in terms of population to landscape ecology in the Verdugo mountains. They have an isolated wildlife and is within the chaparral community. The mountains are dominated by dense, shrub-dominated community of woodlands and there are many shrub species that characterize the community. The place is dominated by many plants and trees like pines, cypress, locust, Australian eucalyptus etc. The mountains also have a number of wildlife species like coyotes, mule deer, mountain lions, black bears etc. there are number of rodent species along with bird species. The ecosystem is quite complete and the landscape ranges from woodlands and formed of igneous and metamorphic rocks.
Ans 2) Main ecological concept that research question seeks to help answer is finding out the specific characteristics of the plants that are native of Verdugo mountains and what makes them survive in the mountain conditions.
