In: Statistics and Probability
For the following different research types, write an exemplary research question. Please check the example given below carefully.
Example:
Quantitative – Mean score comparison – t-test
Research Question: Is there difference between boys’ and girls’ test scores on mathematics?
Homework:
1. Quantitative – Mean Score Comparison – t-test a. Research question
2. Quantitative – Association – Pearson Product Correlation Moment a. Research question
3. Quantitative – Descriptive – Descriptive Statistics (e.g. frequency, percentage) a. Research question
4. Qualitative – Narrative – Qualitative Analysis a. Research question
5. Qualitative + Quantitative – Action or Mixed Method Research a. Research Question
Q1) Quantitative – Mean Score Comparison – t-test
As you want to compare mean of two samples, you can either opt for paired or an independent sample t-test. Let's take an example of paired sample t-test.
Research Question - Does eating a pizza increase the body cholestrol level?
To perform this research, you will need to take reading of cholestrol level of same people before and affter eating the pizza and then perform a paired sample t-test.

Q2) Quantitative – Association – Pearson Product Correlation Moment
Research Question - Does the square footage area of a house affect its selling price?
Note that in order to check if it does affect, you will have to perform a correlation analysis for thek two variables. If they are significantly correlated with pearson correlation coefficient of more than 0.9, then they are strongly aorrelated.

Q3) Quantitative – Descriptive – Descriptive Statistics
Research Question - Does race of voter affect the voting pattern between democrat and a republican candidate?
In this research, you will need to collected poll data for several voters of different race by asking them their preferred candidate. You can then see if the candidate was from a democratic or republican party. And then you can compare percentages of voters preferring a particular party.

Q4) Qualitative – Narrative – Qualitative Analysis
Research Question - Is your best friend intimidated by others.
In a narrative study, you typically focus on one individual trying to collect data about him/her by asking different questions and then narrate his/her story. In this research you will ask questions from your friend about his past, like was he introvert from childhood? Or was he manhandled by anyone in his junior school? etc.

Q5) Qualitative + Quantitative – Action or Mixed Method Research
Research Question - To what extent and in what ways do qualitative interviews with employee and managers serve to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of this predicting relationship between annual turnover and employee's job satisfaction.
This method is one of the most complex methods. You need to collect data for job satisfaction from employee's and annual turnover of company and then compare them based on qualitative interviews with employees and managers.
