Developing a critical perspective involves five stages: description, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, and engagement.
Taking each of these steps, describe briefly how they might inform a close viewing of myfavorite television show- HGTV.
Description
1st stage. Paying close attention, taking notes, and researching the subject under study i.e. the HGTV int he instant case, attention to the TV shows and taking notes of the things that are related to the show will complete this stage!
Analysis
2nd Stage. Discovering and focusing on significant patterns that emerge from the description stage. In the instance, we have discover the creative side of out notes taken from the 1st stage of the show of the HGTV
Interpretation
3rd stage. Asking and answering "what does this mean?" And "so what?" questions about one's findings.
Evaluation
4th stage. Arriving at a judgment about whether something is good, bad, or mediocre, which involves subordinating one's personal taste to the critical assessment resulting from the first three stages.
Engagement
5th stage. Taking some action that connects are critical perspective with our role as citizens to question our media institutions, adding our own voice to the process of shaping the cultural environment.
