How can we shield any apparatus from an electric field?

How can we shield any apparatus from an electric field?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The apparatus can be shielded by placing the apparatus inside a hollow conducting medium like for example a hollow metal case. This is basically due to the fact that charge cannot reside within the surface of the conductor. So as charge cannot be available within the metal surface, the electric fields within the conductor will be absent and hence it cannot cause any kind of affect to the apparatus.
