Describe Julia's character as it relates to Winston. How ia she different from him? How is she similar to him? How does Julia's age make her attitude toward the Party (and toward the truth) very different from Winston's?
In 1984 by George Orwell is a novel which represents a place where there no freedom. Even thinking freely is not allowed it is governed by its leader called big brother where is no freedom given to people.
Julia is one of the main characters she is dark hair twenty-six years old. She is also rebellious and does not like the system of total slavery to the leader of Oceania an imaginary place. She works with the department of the Ministry of Truth, she wanted to rebel against their leader known as the big brother, she enjoys having sex and had a relationship with Mr. Winston and other party leaders as they did not have freedom of making love she was showing her rebellious character by disobeying, She is practical.
Winston is another one of the main characters of the novel he is working with the department of Ministry of Love his duties to do deceptive propaganda, Winston keeps a diary in which he writes his thoughts against his party like Julia he too is rebellious, he was convicted of thought crime for that he was imprisoned and tortured. Julia and Winton both rebel against the party, but Julia's rebel is on a personal level like making love with Winston and other party leaders. Winston wanted to bring changes in the working of the party and fighting for the freedom. Julia was living in the present while Winston was constantly dreaming about freedom and the future free of all the obstacles. Julia and Winton's physical affair turned into a love that was a crime that was ultimately caught and Winston was punished for his crime of love. Julia was intimate with Winton and other to fulfill her need she was not interested in destroying the party like Winston. According to Winston affection is shown for affection's sake and he was angry at what the party has done to a woman is an injustice.
Julia was young her need was the physical intimacy that is the way she was rebelling against the party's norms. She was not open and rebellious like Winston who wanted to change the system At the end, Winston is imagining of a place free of the torturous way of the part.
