Following are the important items can be part of project management plan, those are as stated below:

• Subsidiary management plan like scope management plan, schedule management plan, cost management plan, etc,
• Project Baselines like scope baseline, cost baseline, Schedule baseline etc
• Additional components like change management plan, Performance measurement baseline, Configuration management plan, etc,

Project should be broken into phases, as by breaking in this way, we can go into deeper level of the project, scope of the project becomes more transparent, we will be able to know about the milestones of the project, we can allot various start date and end date of the project phase, we will understand the phase gate concept and implement the same into real project, further risk management could be performed effectively by breaking the project scopes into phases,

At every phase of the project, sponsor should approve, which can further ensure that project has met its objective as set in the goal statement, thus, particular phase of the project further closed, once it is approved by the sponsor, further, once sponsor has approve that phase of project, either we can move to next project, or we can end the project as if it is completed and assumed that approved by sponsor, in case sponsor is not approving that phase of the project, here, we should be knowing all the applicable causes and we should be knowing that what are the project objective are not met,
