Regulatory policy is a policy formed by government to impose control on certain illegal activities or non professional behaviour.
The five basic categories of regulatory health policies are-
1) Market entry restrictions
2) Price setting controls on healthcare services
3) Quality control of health services
4) Market preserving controls
5) Social regulation
Healthcare services must take an approval for new capital projects is an example of market entry restricting regulations.
There is control on prices of health services by federal government.
Every health services provider must go through quality control and check regarding pharmaceuticals. For example- FDA is an organisation whose approval is important.
There are some rules for market participants to work honestly and fairly is good example of fourth category of regulation.
Social regulation policy is to achieve workplace safety and honest employment policies.
