The Role Of Information Technology In Health care

Heath technology also known as health information technology is a term that is used to describes the various new infrastructure and advance technology used to record , analyze and share the paitent health data . Various technologies like health records systems including personal and electronic papers ,recorded on computer for future reference , personal health tools like smart watches , apps , devices etc , And health community to discuss and share these information . Health information technology provides numerous opportunities to improve and transform health care which includes reducing human error, improve clinical outcomes, facilitating proper care coordination among heath providers, improving practice efficiency and providing and tacking data over period of time .

There is huge need of information technology in health care as in recent years the number of patients data increase significantly and it is nearly impossible for human brain to memorize all those data accurately.the memorising capacity of brain remain same but the patient data increase exponentially which needs to be properly maintained and recorded . As it is very difficult for physicians to keep pace with rapid changing medical states and knowledge and applying that knowledge to treat patients we need information technology in health care .

The different form of heath technology use in recent medical practice are 1 ) Electronic medical records 2) Computerized physicians order entry 3) Electronic proscription 4) Heath information exchange 5) personal health records 6) Telehealth or e heath apps 7) remote heath monitoring techniques8 ) clinical data processing.

We will discuss details of each technology

1) Electronic medical records --it provide complete patients information like number of visits to health center, medical conditions and medication records , image and record of different diagnostic procedures ,any specific disease , personal information , any other survises in proper chronological manner thus EMR help the physician to update and manage on regular basis .

2) Computerized physicians order entry --- it is used by doctor to order medication and other diagnostic procedures , referral , discharge etc . It is also used as evidence in future by physicians as it provides written order . It is recorded in computer .

3) Electronic prescription -- it is kind of prescription in which electronic media is used between prescriber , Despenser and pharmaceutical . This prescription can given to them either directly in hand or send via internet form one place to other . It's kind of two ways transmission method ,it is imp to record complete medical history of patients in e prescription like allergic , drug interactions etc for patients safety .

4 ) Health information exchange --- the various doctors and physician are connected to each other via internet and other networking sites ,and by this manner it becomes easy to share patients details in no matter of time . It is very important that these sites must be very secure enough to safeguard the patient information from 3 rd party.

5) Personal health records --- they are electronic application through which patient records , maintain and manage there health in private. And secure manner . This application provides complete confidentiality to uses and very user friendly ,as it is completely in hands of patients that how he wants his record to be maintained .

6) Telehealth or e health apps-- it is use of telecommunications technology to deliver health releted information and complete services that helps patient as well as administrator of health services . It is done by sharing medical releted data of patients among doctors and heath providers ,

This technology helps to assess the heath care by reducing the cost of transportation and energy of critically / ill patients . Video conferencing ,e home health care are parts of Telehealth .

7) Remote heath monitoring techniques ---- it is electronic transmission of data which is either feed by patients or through same device to the Electronic heath records , patient personal information records . It also includes gerenal body measurements recording like bp , weight ,heart rate , any symptoms etc .

8) Clinical data processing --- it is used to monitor patients on regular basis or interval basis and this data used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes .

By this method we save man power and more nursing time .

Thus by use of information technology we can save many people and we can maintain proper record ,our health care will work with maximum efficiency with help of information technology .and there is lots of improvement and advances in future also in this field .
